hello! i’m gabi (they/she) and i’m a writer, artist, educator, and PhD candidate in geography. i have a background in the history of modern north american landscape architecture and my current research examines the politics of ecological restoration in settler-colonial places. my research areas include political ecology, environmental history, politics of ecological restoration, garden and landscape studies, invasive species, property, settler colonialism, and anticolonial and antiracist geographies.
i’m a settler of irish, french, and acadian ancestry born on the traditional unceded territory of the Wəlastəkwiyik (Maliseet). i’m currently based in Tkaronto (toronto) in the Dish With One Spoon Territory, on the traditional territories of the Wendat, the Anishnaabeg, Haudenosaunee, Métis, and the Treaty lands of the Mississaugas of the Credit First Nation.
